Healing From The Inside Out

When Life has Turned You Upside Down

On a recent radio show I discussed how to transform trauma. I spoke from my own personal experience and from watching dozens if not hundreds of empowered clients, that someone can move from victim to victor and from pain to empowerment. I mentioned my own mental illness, it’s blatant surfacing during graduate school and the threat I perceived it posed to my career goal of becoming a therapist.  Now, looking back, I see that it was the ultimate learning opportunity.  I see the divine order of those years of my life and how my own epic healing has become the very core of my role as a healing practitioner.  Listen to the full show here

Sometimes our greatest tragedies are true opportunities to become more than we would have otherwise been.   I have studied and observed the nature of change for decades, and I have concluded that most of humanity would remain in a comfort zone at best, and even gradually decline, were it not for catalysts spurring growth and perhaps forcing movement towards progression.  It is when we fight the catalyst and resist the opportunity that we go into a victim mode.  The solution is not to wish the experience away, but to embrace all that it is here to teach us.   That often means going deeper within our very soul and offering ourselves to the hallowed role of the teacher to change us.

I am sure I don’t have to tell you that this is all much easier said than done.  The task requires more than our minds are capable of; the heart is the actual vessel of transformation.  Healing from the inside out is an emotional process as well as a spiritual one.  It requires really feeling the pain and grief of the trauma and then surrendering it all to a greater, Sacred Source.  That is where the transformation takes place.  And even when we do arrive at the splendor of forgiveness or feel miraculous moments of grace we often get to reclaim these shifts again and again.  I pray that you will find peace in the process as I have.
