Building A Sure Foundation

Many energy workers and enthusiasts are top-heavy.
How grounded are you?

Since discovering energy therapy, developing my intuition, and meeting many like-minded spiritual seekers, I have found that we have a strong trait in common…many of us are top-heavy. What this means is that energetically we have much going on in our crown chakra and our third-eye. Our thoughts and verbal expressions are rich with content and our hearts are expanding with love and positive energy. However, quite often, the solar plexus, sacral center and root chakras are not balanced with these upper energy centers. The lower energy centers are often blocked, reversed or lack the energetic intensity of the upper chakras. As a result we find something is still “off” despite all of our efforts. Maybe it is a lack of financial abundance or the inability to lose weight. Maybe we struggle to balance work with play or to set healthy boundaries.

Sometimes we have an unpleasant history that has propelled us into our upper energy centers to be safe. I have heard the term “vertical integration” used to describe the healing process in the brain after a trauma. The frontal cortex or rational part of us that likes to be in conscious control needs to connect to the emotional brain. This is the often irrational part of us that tends to be out of control and can even “high-jack” the rational brain if not integrated. The brain-stem which we really have no control over and is the most un-conscious also needs to be connected. This same pattern seems to be present in our energy centers. We tend to be very conscious of our upper centers and tend to have more personal control over them. We seem less conscious and less in control of our lower energy centers. We tend to avoid those lower centers and spend more time and energy on the development of the upper ones. However, this is counter-productive. It is like building a mansion without a foundation. What to do? The answer is in building up our foundation.

How can you build your foundation?
1) Develop your relationship with Jesus Christ: When a tall building is being constructed the foundation must rest on solid ground. “…like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock:” (Luke 6:48) This solid rock represents Christ. “…remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; (Helaman 5:12)
2) Balance your lower energy centers: Use meditations that bring energy down from the crown to the root chakra. Many techniques start at the bottom and work up, but I have found that bringing energy down creates more balance for the top-heavy types. A top-down meditation is available as part of the Chakra Clearing CD also available as an mp3 download here.
3) Become more aware of your connection with your physical body: One of the best ways to do this is the integrative mind-body practice of yoga. It naturally creates balance and awareness of the body. It is amazing to experience yoga in nature and it really enhances the grounding aspects. Try doing yoga on a beach, in the mountains, or even in your backyard.
4) Resolve old patterns and energies associated with your lower chakras: An effective method of doing this is with writing. The act of facing what is hidden in your figurative closet, taking out the “boxes” of memories and sorting through them can be powerful. This is often referred to as an inventory or a fourth step. It can be very therapeutic and leads to more complete healing.

My prayer is that you will gain something from these thoughts in building up a sure foundation to support your life and thriving spirit.
